We saw that the nurse on duty was patient and gave encouragement when supporting people to take their medicines.

No-one living on the unit we visited was able to speak to us about their medicines; however no-one expressed any concerns. A registered manager was not in place at the time of our visit. The home was being managed by an acting temporary manager who will remain in post until the new manager starts in August 2012. He told us; "Communication between staff and myself has improved considerably. The manager and the clinical lead nurse work closely together and with me to make sure that the resident's needs are met." We looked at the medication procedures in the home and saw that the manager and quality assurance manager had introduced more robust checks to ensure that medication was administered appropriately and safely.
Just be aware that we do not provide housing or care services ourselves, so we cannot accept applications for housing and do not have any control over the services listed on our site. We have recently been able to open EAC Advice, a new 'housing options' advice service for older people. We frame our offer around ‘home’ because we understand its importance for everyone. But also because planning ahead may be needed to ensure that where you live now is ‘age proofed’, and that if you wish to consider moving, you have good information and advice to help you understand all your options.
One of the curtains fell down as well and mentioned both issues to reception. Otherwise the room was fine and appeared to have had a new shower fitted in place of a bath. Breakfast was in the Hungry Horse next door in what appeared to be a large conservatory. A bit chilly for December and the cups for tea and coffee were cold. No mixed fruit but otherwise cereals, pastries and good cooked breakfast to order as expected.
Family and friends join residents for meals which are served in the dining room or, if our residents wish, they can choose to eat in the privacy of their own rooms. For further information on Colleagues working in your care home, please speak to the Care Home Manager.
